Default Computer Problem

I have a Windows XP in my room (i'm on my mom's atm) and whenever I turn it on, it goes to the screen where you choose, "Safe Mode" "Revert to old Settings" and "Start Normally" and whenever I click one of them, or let time expire, it blacks out, and restarts... any ideas? I can't even get to my desktop...

Default Re: Computer Problem

can be a virus or youre windows is corrupt

try repair and if that dont work place another drive, (if you dont got one try the windows drive from youre other pc) put it in as master, put the old master drive in as slave (jumper must be set to slave)
when ya done all that you can acces youre files on the broken windows drive and back up all before you format the drive for a new clean windows install.

do a virus scan and spyware scan before you format, sometimes when it find a virus or some trojan it wil work again.

i did it many times like that to be sure i did not loose files i did not have on back up.

good luck

Do you know WHEN it started to mess up?

If so, start your computer in safe mode, and do a virus scan, adware scan, etc.
If things are found, delete them.
If nothing is found, you'll probably be best off doing a system restore.

To do this, goto the Start Menu, goto All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools. There will be a program called "System Restore".
Click it, and it should open. Everything is pretty self-explanatory from there.
Just find a date where you know it wasn't all messed up, and click it.
Then do what it says.

System Restore is a program that you can click a date, and restore your computer exactly how it was on that day. For example, if you got a virus you don't know how to get rid of, all you need to do is do a system restore to a date that you know was fine.

I hope this helps.

Dude, I can't get into Safe mode, no matter what I click, it will not go any farther...

As for when, okay, I mainly use that computer for my music, and school work, I hadn't downloaded anything to the computer in... one or two weeks I think, it was working fine when I did it, I turned it off multiple times in this interval, then one day, I turned it off, it was working fine when I turned it off, all normal, I come back into my room a couple hours later, it turned off succesfully... I turn it back on... and now here I am...

If all fails, take it to a computer shop and format it.
